June! Yes, it is Seniors' month. If you are proud to be a senior then you will be celebrating with your club - please let us know what you have planned. Send pictures and also let the government know so they can put it on their website. Be proud that we have a month that is ours!

What do you think of our new office front? Isn't it great? We've even had a stranger stop his car just to tell us how distinguished our building looks now. We hope each club will donate whatever they can afford to help pay for the construction. Remember: it is your building and each club helped pay for the building when it was purchased back in 1984.

The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) was founded in 1924 and is the voice of Ontario public hospitals. OHA has created a website promoting better public access to hospital performance. It allows users to learn more about how their hospitals are performing by location, type of care, or one of 39 different indicators. It is to empower patients while also helping hospitals become more accountable. The site is myhospitalcare.ca and should be easy to understand and navigate. Let us know how helpful it is to you.

Health Care Connect is a program launched by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care to help Ontarians without a family health care provider find one. The program refers people without a regular family health care provider to physicians and nurse practitioners who are accepting new patients in their community. You must have a valid O H I P card to be part of the program. Health Care Connect does not guarantee that a family health care provider will be found. You are also urged to keep searching on your own. If one is found you must book your own appointment. After you register with Health Care Connect a nurse called a care connector will be assigned to help you find a health care provider in your area. Call 1.800.445.1822 to register.

Did you know? A family with a net income of $20,000 is eligible for a full subsidy to cover the cost of regulated child care in Ontario. It is worth looking into if you are in that income range.

Congratulations to all our club Presidents and their Executive who have worked so diligently all year to bring interesting and educational programs to their groups. It is a lot of hard work and we do thank you for your dedication to your seniors of Ontario. You are the backbone of the U.S.C.O.. June will probably be your last meeting till September so do enjoy your summer off. We all need a break to get energized for the fall.

A very special thanks to our Board for their support this past three years. You are a great group to work with. To all our Field Reps many thanks for keeping your flock informed of all the changes that are taking place. It is so important for you to visit each club. They need to know what the U. S. C. O. is doing.

Our dedicated office staff are the best two ladies who have faithfully supported all the changes and quietly keep on working. Isn't it great to have a human answer the phone and not have to press half a dozen numbers to get an answer?

We are looking forward to seeing members of each club at the convention on August 17, 18, and 19 at the Holiday Inn in Oshawa. It is where you learn what the U.S.C. O. is doing for you and the fun of renewing old acquaintances again. Make it part of your holiday and learn from the speakers and workshops. We have an exciting program planned. See you there.
