Hello
again!
Welcome to spring; or at least I think it's spring.
Daylight Saving Time has arrived. Really I don't know
why it is called Saving Time. It causes us to get
up an hour earlier so instead of saving daylight we
use more of it.
April being the month most often associated with Easter,
I thought it reasonable to say something about the
Easter Bunny. It was first mentioned in German writings
in the 1500s. The first edible ones were made in Germany
of pastry and sugar.
The Easter bunny was brought to American folklore
by the German settlers who came to the Pennsylvania
area. It was known then as "Oschter Haws"
and the children considered his visit was next in
importance to Christmas time. They believed that if
they were good that the Easter Bunny would leave them
a nest of coloured eggs. The tradition continues.
I attended a Zone 36 executive meeting where they
were planning for the annual Zone rally to be held
at the end of May.
I attended a Liaison Committee meeting with Seniors'
Secretariat.
U.S.C.O. is still supporting the investigation of
White Collared Crime. Unfortunately the proroguing
of Parliament has delayed better legislation to deal
with the ponzi schemes which have left some seniors
with no retirement savings.
Till next time, take care of yourselves and be good
to each other.
