This is the month that many of our seniors, look back, and remember World War II. I cannot help but contemplate on what the future holds for our grandchildren and great grandchildren, concerning memories and thoughts from the stories told to them by our veterans and grandparents. November is definitely a month for memories concerning the veterans, and what their sacrifice means to all of us. We are so fortunate to live in a free country, but at what cost?

I strongly feel that our seniors should be recording, writing, making videos, and sharing stories, about their memories. Most of us are at the age, when we had fathers, brothers and sisters, returning from the War. Of course today, we have the Afghanistan repatriations, to remind us of the sacrifices that are being made even now. Possibly, residing in Trenton, where there is a constant reminder of what the military is doing and has done for all Canadians. So on that note, I am asking each of you on November 11th to take a moment at 11 a.m. to give thanks, for what others have done for us.

Now on a different thought, I mentioned that an Executive meeting was being held on September 20th, and that I would let you know about some of the issues and concerns discussed that day. The Brief to the Government of Ontario regarding the resolutions passed at our Convention has been printed and forwarded to the Government.

Committees were formed, for example

Resolutions Chair
Ruth Peters
Convention Chair
Sylvia Gagnon
Disabilities
Dorothy Kelley
Fund Raising
Art Field
By-Laws & Constitution

A considerable amount of time was spent discussing financial concerns of the U.S.C.O. One decision was to increase the price of the Voice by $5.00 per year beginning January 1st 2012 on your renewal date. Our Treasurer Susanne Robarts is closely monitoring other areas that may be implemented in the future.

Resolution closing date will be May 14, 2012 I know you all realize that Resolutions may be sent in anytime to the office, they will be forwarded to the Resolution Committee. Talk to members of your Clubs and do not hesitate to prepare a resolution and forward to the office at any time...

At our Convention the Field Reps. spoke about having a telephone conference call so that they could discuss issues and concerns. This is scheduled for October 13th. I do hope that all Clubs will keep in close contact with your Field Rep.

Again, please take time to remember all of our past veterans and peace keepers.
