I would like to introduce myself, my name is Joyce Mitchell, residing in Trenton On. I was elected as your new President at our recent 53rd Convention. I served on your U.S.C.O. executive since 1995, Field Rep. for Zone 18 since 1994, Treasurer of my home club Trenton Senior Citizens Club 105 for 17 years, and National Pensioners and Senior Citizens Federation Treasurer for 14 years. It is my goal to continue the work accomplished by your Past Presidents.

At this time on your behalf I would like to extend a special thank you to your Past President Ken Cunningham for all his hard work and dedication, this past two years, and to all your outgoing Executive. THANK YOU.

The upcoming year promises to be a busy and exciting one. The first fall meeting of the Ontario Senior Secretariat has been called for September 8th, I plan to attend along with our 1st Vice Pres. Bernard Jordaan, and prepare a report for your October Voice.

It is my sincere hope that 2011-2012 will be a rewarding year for the U.S.C.O., and that all Clubs and Zones will prosper, with new membership. How can we accomplish this? By continuing to work diligently towards this goal and promoting the Mission Statement of the U.S.C.O.

It is my personal opinion that we are very fortunate to have such a experienced and knowledgeable executive. Working together in harmony and sharing knowledge will certainly assist in achieving these goals.

How do we proceed this upcoming year? I would certainly appreciate ideas from all Clubs and Zone members, having you put out a call to all your members for their ideas. If you have ideas, would you forward them to the office, or personally to me by calling (613) 394-0739 or emailing me at mitchell2@sympatico.ca

On closing, I would like to remind each and everyone, that the executive of the U.S.C.O. including myself is elected to work for the betterment of all seniors, we are your voices. Please keep us informed of any concerns or issues that you may have so we may serve you better.

Hoping you have enjoyed your summer, and our now enjoying the beautiful fall season, that this great country of Canada provides for us.
